About Us

Coming from a background in teaching, I wanted to do something that involved some of the things that are important to me – making a difference in children’s lives and the future of the planet. So I thought why not put the two together and hence, Green Child of Mine was started, offering products that are eco-friendly, fairtrade and organic. Some organic toys and clothes can be dull and uninteresting so I wanted to offer a range that would be colourful, stylish and of premium quality; that will have your little one looking good and feeling great.

By nature, organic cotton is a top quality premium product because it has not been farmed intensively. No harsh chemicals or toxic dyes are used in the organic products that we sell which means that you can be safe in the knowledge that the products will be kind to your little one’s skin. This means our products are ideal for those with sensitive skin problems. Organic cotton is also hard wearing and will last the test of time. Making fair-trade products available also ensures that producers in developing countries are getting a better deal.

I believe that teaching children about how we can have a positive effect on the planet should start as early as possible as there is often not enough time in the school day to get the message across fully. Many schools are not yet as environmentally friendly as they could be and the ones that are need the added support from home for environmental issues to really impact on a child’s belief about how we conduct our daily lives. From birth upwards what our children eat, do, play with and wear can have an impact on their future and in turn the future of the planet.

Offering a range of organic and eco friendly products is another way that I can try to make a small difference to children and the planet, but together we can all make a difference. Making caring for the environment and others second nature and an everyday part of life as a child grows will help them to develop personally and socially, having respect and care for everything around them. If we all do small things from buying a few organic or fairtrade products when we can, to switching out a light or recycling our paper, and make children part of this then I believe they will grow up making a positive difference to the world and the environment in which they live.
